Death of Mrs. S. J. Pearson
Mrs. Susan J. Pearson died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. J.
Robinson, last Wednesday night. Mrs. Pearson had been in feeble health for some
time and her death was not unexpected.
The deceased was about 76 years of age, and after a long and useful
life she died as she had lived – honored, trusted and loved. She reared her own
monument while she lived in the hearts of those who knew her. Her Christian
life was beautiful from its beginning to its close, and through all the
vicissitudes and sorrows that she met in the way, her faith in God never
wavered. But she has left us, and today the spring flowers are blooming upon
another grave that hides from our sight all that is mortal of a true and noble
woman.
The funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterian Church Thursday
afternoon at three o’clock by Rev. W. T. Hollingsworth, assisted by Rev. E.
Fulmer and Rev. E. M. Stewart, after which the interment was made in the City
Cemetery.
(Per “Survey of Cemeteries in Chambers County, Alabama” there is a tombstone in
the LaFayette City Cemetery that
reads: “Susan Jane Pearson, July 17, 1829 – March 11, 1908.” )
