LaFayette Sun January 4, 1956
His obituary from the LaFayette Sun dated January 4, 1956 reads:

John W. Hinkle, of Moorefield Passes Tuesday.

J. W. Hinkle, age 83, well known resident of the Moorefield community on 
LaFayette Route 4, passed away, Tuesday, January 3 at 12:30 a.m. A lifelong 
resident of this County, he had been in failing health for several years and 
seriously ill for one week.
Funeral services were held today at 11 a.m. from Antioch Baptist Church, of 
which he was a member, with Rev. Yancey Sanders and Rev. C. C. Sanders 
conducting. Interment was in Antioch Cemetery with Johnson and Sanders Funeral 
Home in charge of arrangements.

  The deceased is survived by his widow; 8 daughters, Mrs. K. L. Hopkins and 
Mrs. Theron Henderson, West Point; Mrs. J. W. Poe, Mrs. Arnold Poe, Mrs. A. L. 
Stillwell, Mrs. H. S. Preston, Mrs. Fred Trammell, Mrs. Pete Ramage, all of 
LaFayette; 5 sons, W. G., W. C., and Calvin Hinkle of LaFayette; L. C., 
Shawmut; Wesley, LaGrange, one sister, Mrs. Nan Yates, LaFayette; one brother, 
Lewis Hinkle, Sr., LaFayette, 27 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers: Wilfred and Arnold Poe, Louis, Riley and Raymond Hinkle and Dewitt 
Alsobrook.
