S. T. Higgins Dies Following Second Stroke

Sim T. Higgins, age 62 years, prominent Five Points citizen died at his home 
in that city last Thursday morning at ten o'clock following a stroke of 
paralysis, the second within the last two years.

The deceased had been in failing health for the past several months, being 
able to leave his bed only at intervals.  His condition gradually grew worse 
following a stroke of paralysis which seized him about two years ago.  He was 
a well known and respected citizen in the Five Points community for years, 
having lived there all his life.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Sim T. Higgins; four sons, Eddie of Plant 
City, Fla.; Brooks of Montgomery, Ala.; Tom of Opelika, and Cecil Higgins, of 
Five Points, and three duaghters, Miss Ethel Higgins, of Opelika; Mrs. W. C. 
Newman of Five Points, and Miss Mattie Ruth Higgins, of Five Points; two 
sisters, Mrs. Bud Slay of LaFayette, and Mrs. Mattie Mitchell, of Opelika, and 
one brother J. F. Higgins of LaFayette.
The funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Five Points last 
Friday morning, May 13th, with Rev. L. D. Adkins officiating.  Interment was 
in the family burying plot at the Five Points cemetery.
