Newspaper
"The LaFayette Sun" - October 21, 1896:
The remains of Mr. R. J. Higgins, Jr., of Wewahitchka, Fla, were interred at
the family cemetery, near Mr. S. G. Higgins' last Thursday. He was a
promising young man, noble of trait and character, and just as he entered
the bloom of manhood the Angel of Death came for him, without warning to
himself or relatives. He died very suddenly in Columbus, Ga., while on his
way to Roanoke, Ala. God has taken him from his loved ones for one of His
own jewels, at his crowning day, and afflictions and death he'll feel no
more. It hath been said,

"There is no death! The stars go down
To rise upon some fairer shore,
And bright in heaven's jeweled crown,
They shine forever more."
