ELLINGTON WAS HELD AT GOLD HILL ------------- The body of Capt. G. W. ELLINGTON, prominent citizen of Camp Hill [Tallapoosa co., AL], who died Thursday [11 Sep 1919] afternoon at his home, was taken to Oakbowery [Chambers co., AL] for interment at 4 o'clock this afternoon, at the family cemetery. Funeral services were conducted at the home at 2 o'clock. A large number of relatives and friends from Opelika and vicinity attended the funeral. The pallbearers were his sons and sons-in-law, as follows: J. E. ELLINGTON, C. S. ELLINGTON, W. A. ELLINGTON, J. B. ELLINGTON, Robert ELLINGTON, W. [William] Z. EAST [10 Mar 1870--16 Dec 1924], D. S. ROBERTSON, Jr. -- Opelika News, 12th. The deceased was the father of Mrs. W. Z. EAST [Mary ELLINGTON, 26 Jan 1870--30 Oct 1944], of Roanoke, who was with him at the end of his long illness. He was 78 years of age. Major J. H. HARRIS, a life-long friend, paid the departed a high tribute, as did the ministers, Dr. BLEDSOE and Mr. PAUL.
