Langdale's Loss Heavy in Death of W.  J.  Crosby

  The death Sunday morning, June 2nd, of Mr.  William J. Crosby, at his home in 
Langdale, was a bereavement not only to his family and near relatives, but to 
the entire community, and he had numerous friends throughout the Chattahoochee 
Valley who learned with deep regret of his untimely passing.

  Mr.  Crosby was 49 years of age and had held the position of Master Mechanic 
at Langdale Mill for the past 15 years.  He was a member of Magnolia Lodge No. 
516. A. F. & A. M., and also of Langdale Chapter No. 132.  He was born and 
spent his early life at Blanton, Ala.  In Langdale he was looked upon as one of 
the strong men of the community.

  Besides his wife, deceased leaves five children, Bernice, Early, Hugh, Marvin 
and Frances.  These sorrowing ones have the sympathy of the entire community in 
their sorrow.

  Funeal services were held at Langdale Union church on Monday, the Mills 
closing for the services, conducted by Rev.  W.  T.  Holdridge, of Dora, Ala., 
assisted by Rev.  B. F. Bartley and Rev. Geo. E.  Driskill of Langdale, and 
interment was at Glass cemetery, the cermonies at the grave being in charge of 
the Masons, W. T. Drapr acting as master of cermonies.  A great many Langdale 
people accompanied the remains to Glass, a special train being operated over 
the C. V. Railway for the accomdations of the many friends of the deceased. 

Additional Comments:
NOTE:  The Alabama Death Index shows Mr. William J. Crosby as dying in the 
month of May 1924 and not on Jun 2nd as the obituary has it.
