Dies in Caldwell


 CALDWELL (Special) — W. H. McConnel, 64-year-old native Idaho son died at a 
Caldwell hospital Monday morning after a brief illness. The body is at 
Peckham's chapel. Funeral services are being held up pending word from 
relatives, although the tentative time of 2:30 Wednesday has been established.

 McConnel was born on a ranch six miles west of Caldwell on October 10, 1876 
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin C. McConnel, deceased. His parents came to 
Idaho in the early 1860s. He spent all his life in Idaho except for a brief 
interval in which he was in school in San Francisco.

 With his brother, the late Arthur G. McConnel, he was in the livestock 
business in Valley County for a number of years. On Nov. 271906, he married 
Bessie L. Vinson of Caldwell.

 After their marriage, the couple pioneered in the Gem district near Marsing 
and then moved to their present home southwest of Caldwell where he again 
entered the livestock business.

 He was a member of the Caldwell Odd Fellows lodge and the First Christian 
Church.

Survivors are his widow Bessie; one daughter, Miss Ardis McConnel, a local 
teacher; one son, Harry McConnel stationed at Kansas City, Mo., as a C. A. A. 
assistant regional inspector; one granddaughter, Ellen McConnel; two 
brothers, Charles E. McConnel of Twin Falls and Roy C. McConnel of Smiths Ferry 
and one sister; Mrs. May Raymond of Boise.
