Gratia Elizabeth McConnel
 Gratia Elizabeth McConnel, 90, of Boise, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, at 
Valley View Retirement Center, Boise.

 Memorial services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, at Franklin 
Community Church, 8499 U.S. Highway 20- 26, Nampa. The Rev. Ralph Lawrence, 
associate pastor, Cathedral of the Rockies United Methodist Church, Boise. will 
officiate. Inurement will follow at Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell. Services 
are under the direction of Riverside Cremation and Burial, Garden City.

Gratia was born on a farm near Caldwell on Sept. 18, 1908, the daughter of 
Bentley and Eva Snyder Altizer. She was reared and educated at Caldwell and 
graduated from Caldwell High School in 1927. She then attended business college 
in Seattle, and married Harry L. McConnel on Jan. 16, 1932. They made their 
home in Seattle where Gratia worked many years for the Rhodes Department 
Store in the billing department. They retired to the Caldwell area in 1963, 
and spent many winters in California. Harry died Jan. 13, 1992.

 Gratia's first love was her family, and she also enjoyed music, and church 
activities. She had been a member of Franklin Community Church, and later 
transferred to the Meridian United Methodist Church.

 She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Weston Slifer of 
Issaquah, Wash.: a sister, Verna Petersen of Livermore, Calif.:two sisters- 
in-law, Dr. Mercedes Altizer of Silverton, Ore., and Ardis M. Snyder of Boise; 
several nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by two brothers. The family suggests memorials to 
Scleraderma Foundation, 89 Newbury St., Suite 201, Danvers, Md. 01923; or a 
favorite charity.
