Laura Sue Hammill, 76, of Marsing, Idaho, passed away in her home Friday 
morning, May 20th, after a year-long battle with cancer. She was born in 
California, Missouri on July 21, 1939 to Herbert and Gladys (Kelsey) Rains. 
She attended Excelsior High School in Norwalk, California and graduated in 
1957. Laura married Buster C. Hammill in 1958. After the birth of their 
first child in 1960, they soon moved to Oregon and raised three children 
together. After 28 years of marriage they divorced in 1986. In addition to 
being a dedicated mother and grandmother, Laura worked at Stretch and Sew as 
a model and sales rep, TJ’s restaurant in Creswell, Oregon as a baker, and 
before retirement she worked at Good Samaritan Hospital in Eugene, Oregon. 
Laura enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening, adventures to the Oregon Coast, 
reading, bowling, and walking. She moved to Marsing, Idaho to be closer to 
her family July of 2012. She spent her final years enjoying what Idaho had 
to offer. Laura loved watching the local birds of prey, attending concerts 
and other events with her daughter and granddaughter, and reading every book 
she could get her hands on. She is survived by her three brothers; Jim 
(Ernie) Rains, Victor (Gaila) Rains, and Richard (Melody) Rains, her three 
children; Susan M. Hammill, Patrick H. Hammill, and Kellie L. Hammill, and 
her three grandchildren; Patricia S. Hammill, Kimberly (Brandon) Trowman, 
and Trevor Foote. A celebration of life gathering will be held at her 
residence in Marsing, ID on Sunday, May 29th at 6PM. All friends and family
