SAD ACCIDENT AT CALDWELL

Genevieve Garvin, aged 13, who was fatally injured in an accident which
happened at a railroad crossing near Caldwell Friday morning died of her
injuries at St. Luke's hospital in Boise, at 3 o'clock Saturday morning.

Mary, an older sister, was also badly injured in the accident, when the buggy
in which the girls were driving to school, was struck by the Oregon Short Line
Pony and demolished, the horse being killed outright. Both girls, the
daughters of Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Garvin, who reside a short distance from
Caldwell, were taken to the hospital in Boise, where it is said hopes are
entertained for the older girl's recovery.

A blizzard, which probably hid the buggy from view as it crossed the track and
prevented the girls from hearing the oncoming train, is believed to have been
responsible for the accident. The wind was blowing a gale and a heavy snow
was falling at the time the accident occurred. There is a clear view of both
the wagon crossing and the track at the point where the accident happened, and
but for the blinding storm it is not thought the accident would have occurred.
