Paul F. Beck, 72, of Fletcher, passed away at 1:44 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 
2008, in Heartland of Piqua.
He was born March 29,1935, in Grinnell, Iowa, the son of the late Karl and 
Mary (Schmidt) Beck. He married Joan Reid on Oct. 9, 1965, and she survives. 
He also is survived by three children, Paula (Chris) Schmiesing of Piqua, Karl 
Beck of Troy and Mary Beck of Bolingbrook, III.; three grandchildren, Jack, 
Ben and Sam Schmiesing of Piqua; two sisters, Irene Morrison and Mildred 
(Norman) Schroeder both of Grinnell, Iowa; and one sister-in-law, Ann Beck of 
Omaha, Neb.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Fred, Walter and 
Harold Beck.
Paul was a 1954 graduate of Grinnell High School. He attended the University 
of Iowa and studied animal science. He served in the U.S. Army. Paul worked 
for Thorndale Farms in Millbrook, N.Y. While at Thorndale Farms he was active 
in 4-H with his children, he was a member of the Republican Committee, the 
Lions Club, and was a past Master of the Masonic Lodge. He retired in 1987, 
and he and Joan moved to Fletcher, and in 1991, he started Beck Trucking.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Suber-Shively Funeral 
Home, 201 W. Main St., Fletcher, with the Rev. Lisa Ellison of Greene Street 
United Methodist Church and the Rev. James Christy presiding. Burial will 
follow in Fletcher Cemetery with military honors by the Veterans Elite Tribute 
Squad.
