John P. Bair, 83 of Piqua, died at 10:48 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2003 at Upper 
Valley Medical Center in Troy. He was born Jan. 15, 1920 in Piqua to the late 
Frank and Alice (Wolf) Bair. He married Ethel M. (Oldfather) Bair in 1943; she 
preceded him in death in March 6, 1979.
John is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, John L. Bair and James and 
Cindy Bair; 12 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 
(with one on the way) and three stepgreat-grandchildren. He is also survived 
by a special friend, Deloris Dye.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Lucy Ellen Bair; and one son, Joseph 
L. Bair.
Mr. Bair graduated from Piqua Central High School in 1939. He was a member of 
the Disabled American Veterans. John served our country during W.W. II in the 
U.S. Army, serving in the South Pacific as a combat engineer. He retired from 
A.O. Smith in 1985 where he was responsible for gauge repair, tool inspector 
and layout.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003 at Melcher-Sowers 
Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Pearson officiating. Burial will follow at 
Fletcher Cemetery with full military honors provided by Piqua VFW Post # 4864
