Medina County Gazette
Anthony McFarlin, son of John and Azubah Low McFarlin, was born in Bath, Summit
County, Jan. 24, 1835, and died July 25, 1910, being 75 years, 6 months and 1
day old. His father, John McFarlin, came to this section from New York state
when a boy and settled in Sharon township, afterwards moving to Bath. The son
Anthony had spent his entire life on the farm where he died. He always was a
lover of home life and his farm today shows the marks of his industry and
thought, in its fertility and beauty. Mr. McFarlin had always been a farmer and
took great pride in his work. He was public spirited and willing to lend his aid
to anything that he thought was for the public good. Mr. McFarlin had been
failing for some time but made a brave fight for life until Sunday, July 24,
when he became worse and passed away the next day, surrounded by his entire
family. He married Frances Hurd Nov. 15, 1860, his wife preceding him to the
grave four years ago. He leaves three children, one son and two daughters: John
McFarlin and Corinne, wife of Jason Sumner, living in Akron, and the other
daughter, May McFarlin living at home, where she had tenderly cared for her
father. There are six grandchildren. The funeral services were held Wednesday at
the home, conducted by Rev. Charles Searles of East Granger Disciple church. The
remains were laid to rest by the side of his wife in the East Granger cemetery.
