GEORGE R. OCKERMAN, 85
POLAND – Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Canfield 
Presbyterian Church for George R. Ockerman, 85, of 9111 Sharrott Road, who 
died Monday in Shepherd of the Valley nursing center, Boardman. Mr. Ockerman 
was born May 1, 1913, in Youngstown, a son of Frank and Mabel Woods Ockerman. 
He was chief engineer for McKay-Wean United and retired in 1969 after working 
there 50 years. He was a member of the church and a 1931 graduate of South 
High School. Besides his wife, the former Doris Elizabeth Mackovick, whom he 
married Aug. 21, 1936, he leaves a daughter, Ms. Jean Gallaway of Mankato, 
Minn.; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Thomas of Stuart, Fla.; three grandchildren; and 
three great-grandchildren. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by 
Lane Funeral Home, Canfield. Contributions may be made to the church; 
Parkinson’s Foundation c/o William Black Medical Research Bldg., Columbiana-
Presbyterian Medical Center, 710 W. 168th St., New York, N.Y. 10032; or Butler 
Institute of American Art Education Fund in Clyde Singer’s memory, 524 Wick 
Ave., Youngstown.
