Mrs. C.E. Noll, 62, Called AwayThe death of Mrs. Gemella Hill Noll, wife of
C.E. Noll, in the Youngstown city hospital last Friday morning at 7:30 came as
a shock to many friends and acquaintances. Mrs. Noll had been ill for several
weeks at the family home on South Broad street in Canfield and early last week
was removed to the Youngstown hospital where her death occurred following an
intestinal operation.
Mrs. Noll was admired and loved by all who knew her for her beautiful
Christian life and character. Her life was ‘”hid with Christ in God,’ and as
such it was a constant benediction upon all who came under its influence. She
was ever spending her life for others, always trying to emulate the Master’s
example, whose she was and whom she loved to serve. The deceased was born in
Washington County, Pa., May 9, 1861, and was married to C.E. Noll at
Pittsburgh, Pa., in 1880. About sixteen years ago the family removed to
Canfield. Surviving Mrs. Noll are her husband, three daughters and six
grandchildren. The daughters are Mrs. J.L. Deming and Mrs. R.J. Neff of
Canfield and Miss Anna Winnette [sic] Noll, assistant head resident of Christ
Mission Settlement in Youngstown. Funeral services held at 3:30 Sunday
afternoon from the Canfield Methodist church, of which she was one of the most
active members and workers, were very largely attended. Rev. C.L. Cope paid
eloquent tribute to the memory of the deceased, and Rev. L. G. Batman of
Youngstown offered prayer at the grave. Interment was made in the village
cemetery.
