MARTIN NEFF DIES AT 101
MEAT DEALER
CANFIELD – Martin J. Neff 101, of the Sleigh Bell Residence, formerly of 133 
W. Main St., and onetime meat dealer, died of infirmities at 2:30 a.m. today 
at the Residence. Mr. Neff was born April 22, 1875, in Canfield Township, a 
son of John and Harriet Sanzenbacher Neff, members of a pioneer family which 
came to Canfield Township from Berks County, Pa., in 1802.
Mr. Neff was the owner and operator of the Neff Wholesale and Retail Meat 
Market in Broad Street for about 60 years, retiring about 20 years ago. His 
market burned down in 1930 and reopened in 1931 in a new row of buildings on 
the same general site. He was a member of the Canfield United Methodist 
Church. His wife, the former Anna Fithian, whom he married in 1901, died in 
1959. He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Everett Bush of Boardman and Mrs. Armand 
Schnurrenberger of Austintown; a son, Martin J. Neff of Cleveland; five 
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2:30 
p.m. Thursday at the Lane-Williams Funeral Home where friends may call for one 
hour prior to the service.
