Mahoning Dispatch, Fri, 15 Jan 1892
CRONK, Harriet nee BOSTWICK
[Mrs. William Cronk]
18 May 1810 to 12 Jan 1892
81y 7m 25d

Mrs. Harriet Cronk, widow of the late Wm. Cronk, died at her home in Canfield,
on Tuesday morning of this week. She was born in Canfield, May 18th, 1810, and
therefore lacked only a few months of being 82 years of age. The death of this
worthy, and exemplary Christian lady severs another link connecting the past
with the present. When living she was so far as the writer knows, the oldest
native born person in the township; and her uninterrupted residence among us
covers almost the entire history of Canfield from its first settlement to the
present time. Mrs. Cronk was the daughter of the honored Rev. Dr. Shadrach
Bostwick, who settled in Canfield in 1807, and died in 1837. He occupied a
conspicuous part in the establishment of Methodism in the south-eastern part
of the Western Reserve, and with his family and two or three others founded at
an early day the M.E. Church in Canfield, which as had a continued existence
to the present time. The late L.L. Bostwick, so long and favorably known to
our people was a son of Dr. Bostwick and a brother to Mrs. Cronk. For many
years past Mrs. Cronk has been confined to her home by and incurable illness,
but during these long years she has been most carefully and tenderly watched
over by devoted loving children who have the warm sympathy of those who know
of their long continued sacrifices for the comfort of a loving mother.
