Mr. and Mrs. Harold B. Cristall, South Broad street, have been notified by the 
War Department that their son, Pvt. Harold B. Cristall Jr. was killed in 
action in Italy Nov. 29. Some weeks ago word was received that he was missing 
in action, and it was presumed he was a German prisoner. No further details 
were given. Pvt. Cristall was born in Youngstown Nov. 4, 1918, and came to 
Canfield with his parents in 1923. He graduated from Canfield high school in 
1939 and until his induction into the armed forces Oct. 20, 1941, was employed 
by Charles Credico as a truck driver. He last visited home in April, 1942. 
Pvt. Cristall received his basic training at Camp Wheeler, Ga., and Fort Dix, 
N.J. and after being sent overseas was stationed in Ireland and Scotland. His 
division landed in North Africa the first day of the invasion. Late in 
January, 1943. Private Cristall was wounded in action and received the Purple 
Heart award. Besides his parents, he leaves two sisters, Ella and Lillian, and 
two brothers, Loren and Charles, all at home.
