            LAVINA B. (MOORE) HOWLAND.
            Lavina B. (Moore) Howland, 69, 12549 Collier Road, Greenfield, 
died 3:29 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 1996 at her residence.
            She was born February 7, 1927 in Lawrence County, Ky., the 
daughter of Joseph David and Jessica Romaine Moore.
           She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Vernon Edward and 
Ramona Howland, Greenfield;  Sons, Paul Wendell Howland, Mowrystown, Carl 
David Howland, Hillsboro; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda Ann and Dick 
Phillips, Greenfield, Penny Lou and Junior Duncan, Greenfield; foster daughter 
Judy Wardlow, Greenfield; who died adopted daughter by love, Thelma Sterling, 
Greenfield; 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; sister, Maxine Cox, 
Greenfield; sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis an Ronald Penn, Poplar Grove, 
Ohio; sister-in-law, Betty Moore, Columbus; and brother-in-law, Luther Mayes 
of Kentucky.
          Mrs. Howland was preceded in death by her husband Robert 
Edward "Jack" Howland who died August 4, 1977; son, Ronald Joseph who died 
February 9, 1996 and seven brothers and two sisters.
         She was a member of Samantha Free Will Baptist Church,  Honorary 
member of Mt. Zion Christian Union Church, Poplar Grove; and North Fourth St. 
Holiness Church, Greenfield.  She was a former employee of American Pad and 
Textile Co. and the U.S. Shoe Corp.  She graduated in 1944 from Franklin Rural 
High School in Locust Grove, Ohio.
        A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 1996 at the 
Samantha Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Wiley Perkins officiating.
        Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery with visitation after 4 p.m. on 
Thursday.

               HOWLAND.  
               Lavina B. (Moore) Howland, age 69, of 12549 Collier Road, 
Greenfield, died at 3:29 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 1996 at her residence.  She 
was born in Lawrence County, Kentucky on February 7, 1927 to Joseph David and

Baptist Church, an honorary member of the Mt. Zion Christian Union Church in
