                              OBITUARIES.
         Retha M. Hester, 82, of Hillsboro, died early Friday, Sept. 7, 2001 
at Heartland of Hillsboro.
         Retha was born June 13, 1918 at Latham in Pike County, a daughter of 
the late James and Luella (Humphrey) Roosa.
         She was a member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union.  She was 
a life member of VFW Post 9094 Auxiliary, Highland County Senior Citizens, a 
former member of the Senior Champion Board for 10 years and a former member of 
the governing board of Highland County Community Action Organization.
         Survivors include a son, Wesley Hester, of Greenfield; daughters, 
Alice (Charles) Cade, Betty (Hughlen) Hall and Rose Adams, all of Wilmington, 
Linda (David) Hughes, of New Vienna, Ann (Johnny) Howard, of Berea, Ky., and 
Marlene (Charles) Kessinger, of Allensburg.  Also surviving are 27 
grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
         In addition to her parents, a son, Harvey Hester; grandson, Harvey 
Phillip Hester; and great grandson, Ryan Phillip Hester preceded her in 
death.  Also preceding her in death, were a sister, Anna Reno; brothers, 
Harold, John, Wesley, Harvey and Robert Roosa and Charles Humphrey.
        Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10 at the Turner 
& Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro where the Rev. Wiley B. Perkins will 
officiate.  Burial will be in the East Cemetery near Latham.
        Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.  VFW 
Post 9094 Auxiliary services will be held at 8 p.m.
