Hillsboro Gazette, 18 Nov 1892
Mr. I.A. Feibel, the well-known clothing merchant, died suddenly at his place of
business yesterday
morning about held past 9 o’clock. He came up street, as was his usual custom, a
few moments later after
8 o’clock, and seemed to be perfectly well; in fact he remarked to one of his clerks
that he felt better than
he had for some time. Soon after his arrival at the store he complained of a pain
in the region of the heart,
but he attributed it to indigestion, to which he was subject. He recovered, but was
attacked again in a few
moments, and this time he lay down upon the sofa in the store and some simple
remedies were given to
him. He complained of his feet being cold and requested one of the clerks to throw
some overcoats over
him. He seemed to rally again, but the third attack soon came on. Dr. W.W. Glenn
was sent for and
administered some medicine, when he appeared to get very much better, and insisted
on getting up. He
was induced to lie still, however, and the physician left him. The clerks, whose
attention had been called to
him by his illness, began their customary duties again, but were soon disturbed by
his heavy breathing. A
hasty examination proved that he was again very ill, and Dr. Glenn was again called.
 Before he arrived,
however, the vital spark had fled.

As soon as he was known to be so ill messengers were dispatched for his family, but
none of them arrived
until he was dead.

He was married to Miss Mina Plaut, of Cincinnati, September 13th, 1870, and leaves
her and five children.
The children are: Jacob, the eldest, who was employed in the store; Julius, who is
attending college at Ann
Arbor, Michigan; Miss Rosetta, and Masters Michie and Louis, who all were at the
public schools here when
the dreadful news of their father’s death reached them.

His sister, Mrs. Wolfe, lives in Cincinnati. Mrs. Feibel’s brothers, Mr. Aaron and
Nathan Plaut, arrived from
Cincinnati yesterday at 4:06, and have taken charge of funeral arrangements.

Mr. Feibel was aged about fifty-one years. He came to Hillsboro a poor young man,
twenty-six years ago,
and immediately started in business. From a small beginning he soon made rapid
strides in commercial
circles, and has been very successful in all his undertakings, and at the time of
his death had amassed a
considerable amount of money. He was possessed of rare business tact and ability,
and became through
these agents one of the best known and substantial clothing merchants in this
section of the State. He was
enterprising in business and liberal in everything that pertained to the welfare of
the city in which he had
made his home, and was ever ready with his means to further any scheme which would
benefit the
community.

No subscription for paper for a worthy cause was ever presented to him that he did
not give something.
He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Merchants’ National Bank. He was a
model husband and
father, and his home and family were his idols. His principal objects in life
seemed to be to make his home
happy and to see that his children were properly educated and cared for. To secure
this end, trouble and
expense were nothing to him, and he labored daily to see that his desires in this
direction were carried out.

In his death the city of Hillsboro has lost one of its most progressive citizens,
the business community a
member whose place it will be hard to fill, and his family a kind husband and
father.

His death was of course a great blow to Mrs. Feibel and the children, and the former
has been almost
completely prostrated since the sad news was conveyed to her.

The remains were taken to Cincinnati this morning, and the funeral will take place
at Judah Touro Cemetery
Chapel on Sunday morning.
