Lineville Headlight
Report came early Wednesday morning of the killing of a negro named Allen by
Mannel Milton and Otis Milton. Another negro was with Allen at the time but ran
and fell as he was fired upon. Thinking both negroes were dead, the Miltons
retreated. The negro alive lying on the ground, heard the Milton remark "They are
all dead now, let's go" They went to jail Wednesday morning and the boy left
alive went before the Grand jury. It seems that there had been but little
provocation and that more than a year ago; but it is said that the Miltons
slipped up on Allen and his boy companion while returning from church and opened
fire. The boy was hit on the shoe with two shots.

Additional Comments:
Wm Henry Allen was about 20 years old at the time of his death. He was the son of
Joe Henry & Emma Allen. He was a brother to Mary E. Wood of Randolph County AL.
