Moses Dickey, the oldest man in this township, and among the oldest in the 
county, was found dead in bed Sunday morning. Funeral services were held at 
Kemble’s M.E. church, Monday, where the interment was had. Mr. Dickey was born 
November 16, 1802, being over 94 years of age. He first located in this county 
in 1812, coming from the mountain region with his parents, and locating in 
Madison township. From 1832 to 1842 he operated the old mill at Elkton. In 1827 
he was married to Ann Chamberlain of Elkrun township. It is said that he 
introduced and operated the first thresher and separator used in this 
neighborhood about 1849.
