East Liverpool Daily Crisis - 11 Apr 1901 - pg 8
Mrs. Nancy Kerr, mother of Samuel and Leander Kerr and Mrs. Arthur Taylor, of
East Liverpool, died Monday evening at Toronto.
Mrs. Kerr was born in Eastern Pennsylvania, Franklin County, on the 31st day of
July, 1809, and would therefore be 92 years of age on her next birthday. Her
husband Joseph Kerr, died in 1855, and his body is buried in Kansas. Mrs. Kerr
was the mother of nine children, all living: Mrs. C.T. Young, of Tiltonville;
Mrs. James Montgomery, of Holliday’s Cove, W. VA; Mrs. Arthur Taylor, of East
Liverpool; Miss Sarah, at home; Daniel, John and Henry, of Toronto; Samuel and
Leander, of East Liverpool.
Mrs. Kerr’s sickness was of short duration. She had been in her usual health
during the past week, but on Sunday complained of being sick. At 7 o’clock
Monday morning she lost consciousness and did not again rally or regain
consciousness. The entire family were about her bedside when death came. Mrs.
Kerr has lived in this vicinity about 62 years; part of the time on the
opposite side of the river. She was a consistent member of the Presbyterian
church, and when her health permitted, she was active in the work.
The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at he residence on upper
River Avenue, Toronto, at 2 o’clock, Rev. E.L. McIllvaine officiating.
