East Liverpool Daily Crisis - 14 Feb 1902 - pg 9
William B. Dawson, aged 71 years, died at the home of his son in Youngstown at 
5 o’clock Tuesday evening after a lengthy illness. Deceased has resided in 
Youngstown for a number of years and up until last October occupied the 
position as editor of the Vindicator of that city.
Mr. Dawson has a large number of relatives in this city and vicinity. He was 
born in the year 1831 in West Union, the village which is now known as 
Calcutta, four miles north of East Liverpool, his parents being Augustine and 
Maria Dawson.
His mother’s maiden name was Bever, a family also known in this vicinity. He 
was married and practiced law at Canfield for a number of years but entered the 
journalistic field in 1856 during the campaign of John Buchannan.
He was associated with the publication of the Vindicator, of Youngstown, before 
and since it was issued as a daily and continued this work until last fall when 
ill health compelled him to retire.
