 Winnie Melba Bennett, 73, of Lenox died July 24, 2006 at her residence.
  Born June 3, 1933 to Martha R. Connell of Lenox and the late Jessie "Boots" 
Roberts, she was employed with Metal Products for over 40 years and in the deli 
at Harveys Supermarket in Adel. She was married to the late Wesley E. Bennett.
  Survivors, in addition to her mother, include two sons and daughters-in-law, 
Verlon Wesley and Serbrina Bennett of Lenox and Carlton and Jean Roberts of 
Lakeland; two brothers and sisters-in law, Earl and Kay Roberts of Bay City, 
TX, and Wilbur and Wanda Roberts of Ashburn; one stepsister, Margie Young, five 
stepbrothers, A.D. Connell, Charles Connell, Jerry Connell, Jim Connell, Lee 
Connell; two granddaughters and grandson-in-law, Angela Bennett Exum and John 
Exum of Eldorado and Dana Folds of Adel; one grandson, Jessie Roberts of 
Lakeland. She was preceded in death by a son, Ferrell Bennett, a grandson, 
Robert Wesley Bennett.
  Funeral services were held July 27 at Pine Grove Church with Elder Buck Wood 
and the Revs. Johnny Wood and Denise Purcival officiating. Musical selections 
included "Dear Friens, Farewell," "Just One Rose Will Do," by the Concord 
Church members, "Go Rest High On That Mountain," by John Exum and guitarist, 
Charles Connell, and "When I Get Where I'm Going" by CD. Eudine Hill served as 
pianist.
  Interment was in Pine Grove Church Cemetery.
  Active pallbearers were Keith Luke, Kenny Goff, Charles Goff, Mike Bennett, 
Walter Wilson, Ray Pritchard.
  Honorary pallbearers were Katie Jones, Peggy Friar, Willine Phelps, Margie 
Wynn, Sherry Cumbus, Linda Crosby, Peggy Holton, Gladys Stone.
  Purvis Funeral Home of Adel was in charge of arrangements.
