Bennett, Bertie         Mrs. Bertie Bennett, 93 of West Berrien passed away 
Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at her residence. Mrs. Bennett was born June 2, 1914, 
to the late James A. and Mahalia Yawn Purvis. She was of the Freewill Baptist 
Faith and was a housewife.   Survivors include her two sons, Maston Bennett of 
West Berrien and John E. Bennett of West Berrien; three daughters, Dot Revels 
Cloud of Lenox, Jean Wood of West Berrien and Connie Mosley of West Berrien; 12 
grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several great-great-
grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Betty Driggers. Mrs. Bennett was preceded in 
death by her husband of 71 years and six months Eddie Bennett, who passed away 
in 2003; two sons, Eston Bennett, and Dothan Bennett; one grandson, Scott 
Bennett; four brothers, Arlie Purvis, Allen Purvis, Leonard Purvis, and Paul 
Purvis; three sisters, Vera Crum, Lucille Bennett, and Bessie Connell.    
Funeral service will be held Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at 3 p.m. at Pine Grove 
Baptist Church with Dr. Danny V. Ray, chaplain, Hospice of Tift Area, 
officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to 
service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive 
friends at Purvis Funeral Home Saturday from 6-8 p.m. 
 Active pallbearers were grandsons, Rodney Bennett, Johnny Revels, Steve 
Bennett, Adam Bennett, Ferrell Wood, Morty Wood, Mitch Bennett.
 Honorary pallbearers were Clarence Purvis, Arlie Purvis, Jr. Robert Crum, 
Billy Connell, Daniel Connell, Felton Purvis, Elmer Purvis, Billy Bryan, Leon 
Purvis, Oklan Myers, Grady Bryan, Doc Sumer, Ernest Sumner, Carroll Purvis.
 Purvis Funeral Home of Adel was in charge of arrangements
