 Sam Hudson Barker, 88, of Nashville died June 1, 2008 at Tift Regional Medical 
Center.
 He was born Nov. 25, 1919 in Pulaski County to the late George and Lillian 
Harwood Barker. He lived in Colquitt County for several years and graduated 
from Moultrie High School in 1938. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII 
and while stationed in Harlington, TX, met the love of his life, Marjorie 
Dunbar, whom he married in 1944. In 1948, he began a career with the Moultrie 
Production Credit Assn, as manager of the Nashville Office. Upon retirement he 
was appointed the Berrien County Magistrate Court Judge and served in that 
capacity until retirement in 2001. He was an active member of Nashville First 
Baptist Church for over 60 years and served as finance committee chairman, 
deacon, and teacher of the Brotherhood Sunday School Class. An avid golfer, he 
enjoyed memberships with his friends at Circlestone and Valdosta Country Clubs. 
He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie, who died in 2001, and also their 
daughter, Janice Elayne Barker, who died in 1986. He was also preceded in death 
by five sisters, Louise Whipple, Ina Ellis, Fannie Smith, Edith Key and 
Margaret Ditmars and a brother Leo Barker.
 Survivors include a sister, Laura McCorkle of Moultrie and a brother, Paul 
Barker of Ellenwood.
 Funeral services were held June 4 at 2 p.m. at Nashville First Baptist Church 
with the Revs. Stanley Luke and Billy Southerland officiating. Deborah Boyd 
sang "Because He Lives" and "Amazing Grace," accompanied by Ginger Carter.
 Interment was held in Westview Cemetery.
 Active pallbearers were Trent Ellis, Stan Ellis, Tom McCorkle, Phil Ferrante, 
Tommy Kiss, Jeff Riley.
 Honorary pallbearers were Judge H.W. Lott, Judge W.D. Knight, Wilson Connell, 
Don Simmons.
 Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
