 Richard Lamar “Scotty” Barfield Jr., 53, of Lawrenceville, died Thursday, Dec. 
9, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the 
chapel of Lovein Funeral Home. The Rev. Ernie Jones , the Rev. Stan Nix and Ben 
Blanton will officiate. Burial will follow at Rowe Family Cemetery. The family 
will receive friends from 6 until 8 tonight at Lovein Funeral Home. The 
Carpenter's sang "Cradle of Love," "I'll Fly Away" and "Amazing Grace." Songs 
on CD included "Go Rest High On That Mountain," "Lead Me Home," and "If You Could
Could See Me Now."
 Mr. Barfield was born on March 2, 1957 in Lowndes County. He was the son of 
Richard Lamar “Sonny” Barfield and Mary Lou Morris Barfield, both deceased. He w
was a truck driver with Southeastern Freight Lines. He was a member of Westside B
Baptist Church in Valdosta and was an avid hunter, fisherman and lover of B
Bluegrass music.
 Survivors include his wife, Donna Kay McClellan Barfield of Lawrenceville; a 
daughter and son-in-law, Abby and Brian Ray of Tifton; two sons, Marty Barfield 
of Lawrenceville and McKae Barfield of Nashville; and two sisters and one 
brother-in-law, Brenda and Glenn Adkins of Valdosta and Sue Helms of Valdosta.
 Pallbearers were Eric Gaskins, Lance Walker, Britt Lovett, Blair Sutton, Mike H
Higgins, Tim Smith, Ricky Cornelius, Gerald McGee.
 Lovein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
