For Nov. 8, 2001 Neva M. Bailey NASHVILLE -- Neva M. Bailey died Wednesday at 
Berrien County Hospital in Nashville following a brief illness. She was 85. 
Mrs. Bailey was born on Nov. 6, 1916, in Nashville, Berrien County, and was 
the middle daughter of James Carter McKinnon and Bessie Marie Avera McKinnon. 
She spent most of her life in Nashville, graduating from Nashville High School 
in 1936, as valedictorian. She was a telephone operator from 1936 until 1953, 
and during WW II was a part-time city mail carrier. In 1958, Mrs. Bailey and 
her husband, William E. Bailey Sr., started a small business, Bailey's Bait 
and Tackle Shop, which they operated together until 1984, when Mr Bailey died. 
Mrs. Bailey continued operation of the business until September 2000, when her 
failing health forced her retirement. Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by her 
husband, William Ewart Bailey Sr., who died in 1984, and two sons, William 
E. "Billy" Bailey, and James Leslie "Jimmy" Bailey. She was also preceded in 
death by her brother, Aubra Daniel McKinnon, and sister, Louelle McKinnon 
Hall. Mrs. Bailey is survived by one son, Alan Franklin Bailey of Nashville; 
one daughter, Wenda Gaile Bailey, Nashville; one brother, James A. McKinnon, 
Thomasville; and one sister, Wynette McKinnon Harris, Adel. She is also 
survived by two grandchildren, James Brian Bailey, Tifton, and Jennifer 
L. "Jenny" Jamieson Smith, Nashville; and three great-grandchildren, Leslie 
Marie Bailey, Thomas Adam Bailey and Justin David Bailey; as well as several 
nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bailey's funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in 
the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m.
