NASHVILLE - Deane Alexander, 80, of Nashville, died on Friday, 
March 8, 2002, at her residence. She was born on Oct. 15, 1921, in 
Ben Hill County, to Minor B. and Sophornia McCuller Fowler. She 
was the first teacher for the Jack & Jill Kindergarten, organized in 
the early 1940s. She retired as the clerk for the City of Nashville and 
served as the president of the Georgia Municipal and Finance 
Officers Association during 1972-1973. She was the widow of 
Clarence M. Alexander, who died in 1992, and was a member of 
Nashville First Baptist Church. She is survived by one daughter, 
Peggy Alexander of Lakeland, Fla.; one son and daughter-in-law, 
C.M. "Butch" and Dianne Alexander, Jr., Nashville; one sister, Jo 
Ann Fowler McComb of Valdosta; three grandsons, Trey Alexander, 
Jarrett and Brad Gornto. Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. 
Sunday at Nashville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard 
Williams and the Rev. Billy Southerland officiating. Burial will be 
held in Westview Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 2 p.m. today 
with the family receiving friends from 7-9 p.m. - Lovein Funeral Home, 
Nashville 
 Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
