MR. JOHN MERRITT DUNCAN, 51, Atlanta died at the residence Monday afternoon.
    Funeral services were conducted from Cross Roads Church, near Carnesville, 
at 1 o'clock, Tuesday afternoon.  Rev. A. W. Bussey officiating while the 
interment took place in the Cross Roads cemetery.
    Mr.Duncan was a citizen of Franklin county for many years prior to moving 
to Atlanta.  He resided near Rice Creek, also at Carnesville, and throughout 
the county he has many friends who learn with deep regret of his passing.  He 
was an exceptionally good citizen, a friend to humanity, and a Christian.
    He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nora Duncan; a daughter, Mrs. W. C. 
Griffin of Dalton; three sons, E. B., Merritt E. and F. O. Duncan of Atlanta, 
and a brother, A. B. Duncan of Athens.
