Carnesville Herald Feb. 1952
Funeral services for Mrs. Ben H. (Jane Anna Williams) Dickson, 82, a well-
known resident of Carnesville and Franklin County, were held today (Thursday)
at the Carnesville Baptist Church with Rev. A. B. Couch, Rev. G. F. Wilson and
Rev. Homer J. Fussell officiating. Burial was in Hunters Creek Baptist Church
cemetery.
She was a daughter of the late Henry J. and Diadem E. Williams, a well-known
family in Franklin County. She was a member of Hunters Creek Baptist Church.
Carnesvillle was shocked with grief early Wednesday morning to learn that Mrs.
Dickson had died of a heart attack at 6 oclock. Tuesday morning she had a
most severe attack. As related in her own words, "I was hurting bad enough
that I'd been glad to get relief even--to die. Ben wanted to go for somebody,
but I was afraid he'd fall so I said, "we'll just trust in the Lord till day
time." Dr. E. T. Poole was Lavonia was called Tuesday morning and came
immediately. He found her up and about her household duties - calm and
cheerful.
The second seizure was too great for her tired heart. Her going must have
been peaceful for she "was not afraid to die".
With a heart overflowing with love, it is no wonder that Mrs. Dickson's death
has touched, with sorrow, many people, both white and colored.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, Benjamin Harrison Dickson, include 2
daughters: Mrs. Nancy E. Loden of Athens and Mrs. W. E. (Leona) Wilson of
Lavonia. 4 sons: John S. Dickson of Atlanta; Jeptha W. Dickson of Ft.
Pierce, Fla; Henry S. Dickson of Lilburn; and Jim H. Dickson of Royston. 3
sisters: Mrs. E. T. (Sanannah) Poole of Lavonia; Mrs. Carlton P. (Essie)
Sanders of Winder; Mrs. T. P. Isbell of Orlando, Fla. 5 brothers: H. M. and
Lum Williams of Eastanollee; Will W. Williams of Carnesville; Sam S. Williams
and Uriah Williams of Mize, GA.
B. D. Ginn in charge of arrangements.
