MARION DAVIS DIES FOLLOWING ACCIDENTAL SHOT MR. MARION H. DAVIS, 54, one of Toccoa's most prominent merchants, and well known throughout Stephens county, was accidentally killed at his own hand last Friday morning when a .38 caliber pistol, which he was cleaning, discharged. Following the accidental death, a jury was assembled by Coroner Jack Phillips to probe the matter. The jury found that the accidental death was caused by a bullet wound from a .38 caliber pistol while in his own hands accidentally discharged while cleaning same. The following witnesses were questioned, Orene Davis, Tom Andrews, Broughton Andrews and Melvin Westmoreland. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Carnes Creek Bapt. Church with Rev. Homer Littleton, Rev. George Fuller and Rev. S. E. Macomson officiating. Burial was in Carnes Creek Cemetery. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife and seven children, Mrs. Yoda Whitmire, Clarence, Paul, Mrs. Charles Snyder, Orene, Ora Mae and Bonnie Fae. Six brothers, Will B. Davis of Eastanollee, Robert and Albert of Toccoa, Raymond of Salisbury, NC, Lester of High Point, Claude of Martin. Five sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Thomason, Mrs. H. F. Fulbright and Mrs. T. M. Pulliam of Eastanollee, Mrs. E. M. Hosea of Toccoa, Mrs. Floyd Bellamy of Carnesville. His brothers and sons-in-law acted as pallbearers with the girls of Toccoa High senior class as flower girls. A beautiful song service was rendered by Mr. Tom Acree, Mrs. L. O. Lipscomb, Mrs. Gertrude Franklin and Mr. Pet Coe, accompanied by Miss Sarah Davis. McNeely & Lipscomb Funeral Directors.
