Bernice “Bunt” Hulda Compton, of Comer, died Wednesday, December 1, 2004, at 
her residence.

Born in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Hulda 
Burnette Dobbs. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, for which she 
had an avid love for. Mrs. Compton loved serving the Lord and she loved her 
church. She cared for her family and was a loving mother, according to members 
of her family. She enjoyed flowering, gardening, cooking and canning. She was 
preceded in death by a brother, Red Dobbs.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Fred Watson Compton; daughters and 
sons-in-law, Paula and Mark Threlkeld, Comer, and Tracey and Kerry Bakker, 
Columbus, Miss.; son, Charlie Compton, Comer; sisters, Annette Thomas, Comer, 
Lula Hart, Sandy Cross; brother, Howard Dobbs, Ila; grandchildren, Clay 
Compton, Randy Compton, Cody Threlkeld, Taylor Bakker, Katy Bakker; and 
several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 4, at Oak Grove Baptist Church 
with the Revs. James Page and James Creason officiating. Pallbearers were Clay 
Compton, Randy Compton, Cody Threlkeld, Phil Thomas, Grady Threlkeld, Jim 
Threlkeld, Dennis Wood and Glenn Wood. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Vista Care Hospice or Oak Grove Baptist Church 
Building Fund.

Lord & Stephens, Danielsville, was in charge of arrangements.
