Death came to SAMUEL ALVIN COBB, 62, at his home near Lavonia on 
Tuesday morning, July 31st at 11:10 o'clock.  Mr. Cobb had suffered from low 
blood pressure for several months and had also suffered slight strokes.  He 
had been seriously ill since June 15th.

	Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon August lat at 
Shoal Creek Baptist Church conducted by Rev. A. D. Smith.  Weldon's Funeral 
Home was in charge.

	Mr. Cobb is survived by his wife, the former Miss May Watson to 
whom he was married December 27, 1908, and the following children, Mrs. C. 
T. Mitchell, Mrs. C. C. Owens, Azalee, Junior, and Charles Cobb of Lavonia, 
and George W. Cobb of Brunswick.  He is also survived by a brother, Grady 
Cobb of Anderson, SC, and 2 sisters, Mrs. Turner Fletcher of Charlotte, NC 
and Mrs. J. G. Mitchell of Lavonia.  11 grandchildren also survive.

	Mr. Cobb was born in Franklin County on January 30, 1883, a son of 
the late James and Dora Cobb.  Both his parents passed to their rewards many 
years ago.  He was reared in the Lavonia vicinity and had spent his life in the 
neighborhood of this birth.  He joined Shoal Creek Church early in life and had 
continued a consistent member throughout the years.  He was a man of fine 
honor and unquestioned integrity.
