Carnesville Herald, February 1, 1945
A death that brought sadness to many hearts was that of MR. JAMES CHEEK, 
44, of near Carnesville, who died Wednesday, January 24th at his home after 
an illness of 6 months of bronchial trouble.

	Mr. Cheek was born in Franklin County.  He was married to the 
former Miss Ollie Lee Whiten August 29, 1912.  He was a faithful Christian, 
being a member of Sunshine church.  Mr. Cheek was a good man and made 
friends easily, possessing a kind and jovial nature.  His passing is deeply 
mourned by those who knew him best.

	Funeral services were held at Hunters Creek church last Friday, 
January 25th with Rev. Mr. Crunkleton and Rev. Hubert Thurmond officiating.

	In addition to his wife, he is survived by the following children:  Mrs. 
Frank Roberts, Mrs. Ralph Segars, Mrs. Fred McRae, Mrs. Sue Powell, Mrs. 
Odis Ivester, Bonnie Lou Cheek, Dan, Billy and Eva Nell Cheek.  Three sisters 
also survive:  Mrs. Judge Thomas, Mrs. Mattie Pulliam, Mrs. H. M. Little, as 
well as other relatives.

	Sympathy is extended to the bereaved family.

	B. D. Ginn, funeral director, was in charge.
