James Pope Bentley, 87 of Toccoa, GA died Sunday, March 28, 1999.
Born in Franklin County, he was a member of Broad River Baptist Church, the 
Men's Sunday School Class and was a past deacon of New Hope Baptist Church.  
He was retired from Georgia Tech as a carpenter in the maintenance department.
Surviving are his children:  Catherine and Stanley Bowden of Griffin, Ga; 
Steve and Marice Bentley of Toccoa, GA; Brother, Paul Bentley of Carnesville, 
GA; Sisters, Ruth Hayes and Lois Vickery of Carnesville, GA; and Ruby Ivester 
of Newnan, Ga.  5 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great,great 
grandchild.
He was a son of the late James T. and Inez Hall Bentley and the also preceded 
in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Wilson Bentley.
Funeral services will be a 4 pm Tuesday, at Whitlock Mortuary Chapel with Rev. 
Jack Wilson and Rev. Truitt Brawner.  Burial will follow at New Hope Baptist 
Church Cemetery.
