Carnesville Herald
Thursday, September 16, 1948

On Thursday, September 9, 1948, Mrs. Emma Kesler Bellamy silently and
sweetly passed away at her home near Carnesville, following an illness of
several months.
She was born in Franklin County, May 23, 1868, and lived there until her
death. Her parents were David and Bathsheba Kesler. On January 6, 1887, she
married John Wesley Bellamy, who preceded her to the grave ten years ago.
She became a member of Prospect Methodist Church when she was a very
young girl. She lived a beautiful Christian life, endeavoring always to do the
things that were right. Because of ill health she was not permitted to attend
church regularly, but she never lost her love for the church and God's people.
Even during her illness, which she bore patiently, she was pleasant and had a
kind word for everyone.
Funeral services were conducted from Hunter's Creek Baptist Church,
Saturday, September 11th at 3 o'clock with Rev. George Thurmond, Rev. Roy W.
Melton, Rev. H. B. Free, and Rev. J. H. Crunkleton officiating. Interment was in
the church yard cemetery. During the service Mrs. Fred Wilbanks sweetly
sang "That Beautiful Home" which has been used at Bellamy funerals for three
generations.
Surviving her are seven daughters and three sons: Mrs. Norman Brock,
Atlanta; Mrs. J. T. Randall, Mrs. F. W. Carson, Mrs. C. B. Moore all of
Carnesville; W. A. Bellamy of San Francisco, Calif; Sam J.. Bellamy of Toccoa;
Broughton Bellamy, Carnesville; Janie, Lucy, and Inez Bellamy of the home. She
also leaves 19 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Maude
Blackwell of Danielsville.
Pallbearers were: Jaffree Brock, Norman Brock, Jr., Willie Maurice Randall,
