Carnesville Herald, Jan. 18 1940
The death Angel visited the home of Mr. & Mrs. Tom Ayers last Thursday morning
and took from them their youngest daughter, Opal, age 9. She had suffered for
some months of a heart disorder caused from having whooping cough two years
ago. She was patient and loving during her sickness. Always ready to smile
and was so thankful for anything done for her comfort. She was loved by all
who knew her and will be missed in the school by her teacher and school mates.
She leaves to mourn her death; her father and mother; one sister, Morene,
one brother, Dan, and a host of other relatives. She was laid to rest in the
New Bethel cemetery Friday afternoon.
Pallbearers were: W. F. Stovall, C. D. Thomason, Dewey Hill and Coleman
Thomason. Flower girls were her school mates.
    B. D. Ginn, Funeral Director.
