Funeral services for Mrs. J. S. Akin 70 years old resident of Red Hill 
community, were held October 14 from the Broad River Church with Rev. J. O. 
Fulbright officiating. Mrs. Akin passed away October 13 at the home of her son 
following an illness of seven weeks. Burial was in the cemetery at Broad River 
Church.
Born in Franklin County, Mrs. Akin was the daughter of the late David Bryant 
and Matilda Vandiver Eskew. In 1920 she married Joseph S. Akin, who preceded 
her in death. A devoted mother, Mrs. Akin was a faithful member of the Broad 
River church. Her many friends over the county will be grieved to hear of her 
passing.
Survivors include four children, D. C. Akin, of Milledgeville, John D. Akin, 
Martin, Joseph E. Akin, Martin, and Mrs. Antoinette Ragsdale, Toccoa, a 
sister, Miss Elizabeth Eskew, Eastanollee, and three brothers, J. R. Eskew, 
Eastanollee, D. B. Eskew, Newsome, Texas, and L. T. Eskew, Smyrna Ga.
B. D. Ginn was in charge of funeral arrangements.
