Franklin County Citizen January 6, 1966
Navy Ensign Stewart W. Caldwell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Burt Barnes of 517 Franklin 
Springs St., Royston, returned to San Diego, Calif., on Dec. 16 aboard the guided 
missile frigate USS Richmond K. Turner, after more than six months with the 
Seventh Fleet off the coast of Viet Nam.

He operated with various aircraft carriers in anti-aircraft, anti-submarine and 
search-and-rescue support roles.

Turner is armed with "Terrier" Surface-to-air missiles, anti-submarine rockets 
(ASROC), anti-submarine torpedoes and three-inch guns.
