Five Pooh Corner Nursery students received trophies for their winning entries in
the Create-A-Pumpkin contest, sponsored last Friday by the Lavonia Woman's Club.
Winners were (l-r) Aimbra Blakely, four-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy
Blakely, for most creative; Gerri Wilbanks, three-year-old daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Gerald Wilbanks, for the funniest pumpkin; Darne Smith, four-year-old
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Smith, for the sassiest; Bart Beasley, four-year-
old son of Mr. and Mrs. Jordi Beasley, for the happiest; and Todd Vickery, five-
year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Emory Vickery, for the saddest. Woman Club members
standing behind the winning group are Pat Pierson, project chairwoman, and Kay
Roll, her assistant. The pumpkins, designed and carved by the children themselves,
were judged by Mrs. J.W. Williams Jr., Mrs. Austin Cross and Mrs. Thomas Dixon.
