Toccoa Record November 29, 1945
Ty Cobb, the famous Georgia peach of baseball renown, has notified Dr. Stewart
D. Brown, Sr, of Royston that he would donate $150,000 for a memorial hospital
for his home town of Royston. Cobb, who has been a resident of California for
many years, has kept in touch with his home town and just recently decided to
make this philanthropic offer.

Additional Comments:
The hospital, later built, was named Cobb Memorial Hospital in memory of his
parents, Herschel and Amanda Chitwood Cobb.
