Ashland Progress
Funeral services were held Friday, January 10th, for James Monroe Abner, age 76, 
who passed away Thursday, January 9th at Clay County Hospital. Services were 
held at Blacks Chapel Church, January 10th, conducted by Rev. Clyde Latham, Rev. 
Valter Taylor, Rev. James Andrews. Interment was in the church cemetery with 
Blair Funeral Home in charge. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Glenn Dingier 
three sons, B. C. and J. C. Abner, Atlanta, Ga., and H. C. Abner, Jessup, Ga., 
II grandchildren, 4' great grandchildren, 4 sisters and 8 brothers. Active 
pallbearers were F. C. Rice, Grady Taylor, Wyatt Hendrix, Emory Gregg, Truman 
Yates and L. McDonald. Honorary pallbearers were L. B. Hendrix, Carson East, P. 
A Taylor, Louis Graben, Newt Chapman, J. H. C. Taylor, Clifford Waldrop, Plimmer 
East, Tallmadge East, Braxton Abner, Geneva Abner, William Abner, Dewey Abner, 
Dual Abner, Tracey Abner, Pascal Abner, Kermit Abner, Clyde Abner, Tracey Abner, 
Jr., Jimmy Abner, Ray Abner, Ronald Abner, Edwin Abner, W. O. Abner, Clarence 
Abner, Lyn-ward Mitchell, Wyndell Mitchell, Junior East and Gerald East.
