DOC WELLS GIVES LECTURE

The Lecture given by Doc Wells at the Emma Theatre last Friday afternoon and
evening drew a crowed house. The message from the battle fields and trenches
and the treatment to the prisoners taken by the Germans caused a stillness to
settle over the large audience that spoke louder than words. We have read of
many hellish deeds done at the hands of the German Officers, and the cruelty
to innocent women and children, but did not give full credit to the reports;
but to sit and listen to the heart rending story from the lips of a British
soldier relating his own personal experience and who was an eye witness to the
most damniable deeds ever perpetrated at the hands of a human being would put
fight and patriotism in any man. Doc Wells is an educated man and a splendid
speaker, and his lectures will do much to stimulate the work of the people at
home. He has made his sacrifice, and takes it cheerfully, and while he will
never be able to return to the front, he will continue rendering valuable
assistance in stimulating others.
