Idaho Daily Statesman May 8, 1896
Congressman Wilson has succeeded in inducing the postoffice department to give
the name of New Plymouth to the town in Payette valley. It is a rule of the
department not to permit any double names to be adopted. In this Idaho case
it was particularly desirable that the designation chosen by the colony should
be adopted by the government. Mr. Wilson's application was denied by all the
subordinate officials, but he carried the matter to Postmaster General Wilson
and secured an order from him making an exception to the rule in favor of teh
New town.
