A FISHING CONTEST.

A few days ago a party of well known anglers, who boast of records that are the
envy of the community, hove away to the deep, dark waters of the Snake to try
their metal in a piscatorial contest of history. All members of the party are
strangely reticent about giving particulars of the contest, but the INDEPENDENT
detective has come into possession of a slip of paper, caught near Duncan’s
ferry, by a 10-year-old boy, which appears to throw some light on the subject.
Doubtless the paper was accidentally dropped in the water by some member of the
fishing party: The paper reads like this:

“SCORE
Bolon—3 sturgeon, …………….15lb
Burgan—2 suckers…………….…4lb
Adam—4 white fish…………….12lb
Pierce—2 sturgeon…………….…7lb

Butler Cook”

We have been offered fabulous prices for the above Jonah, but all advances have
been promptly repelled. It is not for sale.
