CREE -- BRAINARD WEDDING

A quiet wedding ceremony which linked the destinies of two of Payette's worthy
young people was performed Tuesday evening when at seven-thirty o'clock, at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. O. Cree, their daughter, Miss Bessie L. Cree, became
the wife of Mr. Scott B. Brainard and Payette's first war bride. The ceremony
was performed by Dr. G. W. Barnes, pastor of the Methodist church, there being
present only the immediate relatives of the young people.

Both young people are well known and popular in social circles of this city.
The bride is a young woman of splendid attainments as a teacher, having
occupied responsible positions in the public schools of both Payette and
Lewiston Idaho, the past several years. The groom is the eldest son of Mr.
and Mrs. E. C. S. Brainard of this city, is a graduate of the Payette High
School and a young man of character and force in the younger circles of the
community. Corporal Brainard is in Payette at present on recruiting duty, and
how well he has discharged the special commission entrusted to him, is partly
told in the story of Tuesday evening's event when he secured the enlistment
for life's great service the heart and hand of the girl he loved. The young
people have the best wishes of a large circle of friends.
