The Ashland Progress, February 21, 1929
Mrs. T. S. Barton Passed Away Monday

Mrs. Barton, wife of T. S. Barton, died at her home in Ashland at an early hour
Monday. She was 76 yars of age, lacking only a few days. After a long and
useful life, she died as she had lived -- honored, trusted and beloved.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Barton leaves of her immediate family, four sons and
four daughters. They are J. J. Barton, of Birmingham; W. T. Barton, of
Albertville; J. A. Barton, of Talladega; D. O. Barton, of Oklahoma; Mrs. Cora
Lee, and Miss Dora Barton, of Ashland; Mrs. Lillie Wesley, of Dadeville, and
Mrs. Nola Bearden, of Ensley. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren.

Mrs. Barton was a member of one of Clay County's old and honored families and
had many relatives and a host of friends.

Tuesday morning her pastor, Rev. Frank J. Fleming, conducted an impressive
funeral service at the Baptist church of which the deceased was a worthy and
devoted member. After the service at the church the sorrowing family,
accompanied by a large group of relatives and friends accompanied the flower
covered casket to the city cemetery where the interment took place.
